The new JJC Downtown Campus construction is well underway. The new City Center Campus will include space for the following programs: Workforce Development, GED/ESL Training, Adult Education and Culinary Arts.
According to the JJC Master Plan; the six-story, 96,000 sq. foot building will include a light-filled, glass-enclosed lobby designed to welcome students and visitors to the facility, in addition to a new restaurant located adjacent to Chicago St. for the public to access.

The design includes many sustainable technologies and is also targeting LEED Silver certification through the United States Green Building Council.

The Joliet City Center is dedicated in working to revitalize the Downtown Joliet Area, in order to enhance our sense of community while maintaining the historical landmarks that hold so much history behind the Downtown Joliet area.

  • Riverfront development
  • Expanding local economy
  • Extension of Downtown TIF District

Plan: Assess and optimize options for the access and linkage between Downtown Joliet and the Multi-Modal Transportation Center currently under construction.

  • Create pedestrian and bike connections to downtown
  • Design and update downtown streetscape
  • Coordinate appropriate roadway cross-sections
  • Develop a comprehensive downtown wayfinding plan
