CLYBOURNE PARK explodes in two outrageous acts set 50 years apart. Act One takes place in 1959, as nervous white community leaders anxiously try to stop the sale of a home to a black family (borrowing a plotline from Lorraine Hansberry’s “A Raisin in the Sun”). Act Two is set in the same house in 2009, as now the predominantly African-American neighborhood battles to hold its ground in the face of gentrification. This excruciatingly funny and squirm-inducing satire explores the fault line between race and property. Written by Bruce Norris and directed by Cathie and Jim Stewart. CLYBOURNE PARK won the 2011 Pulitzer for Drama and the 2012 Tony for Best Play.
